The World University of Bangladesh (WUB) is a leading university for utilitarian education founded under the Private University Act, 1992 (amended in 1998), approved and recognised by the Ministry of Education, the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh.
The university is governed by a board of trustees formed under the 2010 Act of Private Universities and is a non-profit concern.
The university is a member of the Bangladesh Association of Private Universities, the Association of Common Wealth Universities and the Council for Quality Assurance & Development, and features on the UNESCO list of universities worldwide.
The university strongly acknowledges that education is not just a nation's backbone, but that utilitarian education is a nation's final resort to reaching the fastest emancipation. They believe that, in modified situations, knowledge is not just power, but a superpower.
